What do you want to change?
Are you concerned about certain aspects of your life that feel out of your control? Do you feel stuck? Are there some things you think you could improve with the right help or skills, such as your relationships with others, or with yourself? Do you struggle with unhelpful behaviours or patterns that you keep repeating? Are you preoccupied with concerns about your body, with food, or with behaviours that are harming you?
I am Amanda, a psychotherapist, counsellor and relationship therapist, and I can help you to address these, and other similar problems. I specialise in working with those struggling with eating and food disorders or body image disturbance, or those caring for someone who is struggling. I am also a relationship and couple therapist and work with individuals, couples or families to help them to address the problems they are facing.
I work online with individuals aged 18 or over, with couples or families, in many locations throughout the UK and some other countries. I also offer services to companies and organisations throughout the UK.
As well as my areas of specialism, I am also able to help with many other types of emotional, psychological or mental health issues. I offer confidential, caring and professional support to my clients so that they can manage and cope with all sorts of issues encountered in their everyday lives. I help clients to make the most of their strengths and resources in order to overcome difficulties they may be going through, or simply to help them be themselves….but even better.
I am also an accredited clinical supervisor, specialising in supporting therapists working with eating disorders, please click here for more details about clinical supervision.
Online working: At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 I moved my practice online, allowing me to continue working with my clients. This was a successful transition and I was able to maintain a busy practice working this way. I have made the decision to continue working online only, as feedback from my clients is that they like this way of accessing therapy and find it very convenient. It also means that I can work with clients without geographic limits. I recognise that some people will still prefer face to face therapy sessions. However, certainly for the foreseeable future, I will continue to offer online appointments only. Should this policy change, I will update my information accordingly.
Typical problems that I help my clients with include:
- Weight, eating and body image issues (including eating disorders)
- Relationship and communication issues, including parenting and co-parenting concerns
- Anxiety, stress and panic
- Depression and low mood
- Problem habits
- Obsessive or compulsive thoughts or behaviours
- Fears and phobias
- Living with mental health problems
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Performance improvement (sports, business, social etc.)
- Motivation
- Lifestyle improvements
- Coping with chronic pain or other health problems
- Managing conflict and anger
Services to businesses: I also work with corporate and organisational clients to help them to address interpersonal or staff issues, communications or to resolve conflict. I am trained to work with groups or teams and can often help companies to avoid problems escalating into difficult and costly grievance or legal procedures. More information here.
If you’d like to find out if I can help you, I offer an initial consultation with no obligation; please get in touch for more details.
